José Ramón has dedicated 25 years of his professional career to structural consultancy. Firstly in Brufau, Obiol, Moya & Ass., S.L.P. (BOMA), where he started as an intern in 1997, reaching the level of managing partner of a delegate office (Valencia) in 2007, a position he held until the end of 2011. During 2011 he decided, together with Joel Juanpere, to found Windmill Structural Consultants. He has been the managing partner of Windmill since its foundation in January 2012.
During his career he has had the opportunity to direct the design and structural calculation of projects of very diverse nature. Examples of his collaborations include the Torre AGBAR, the museum of Can Framis (Barcelona) and the new headquarters of the firm iGuzzini in Spain. He has also worked on projects and structural problems in multiple countries, the countries most frequently visited being France, Colombia, Kenya and Ethiopia. Josep Ramon has collaborated in the preparation of competitions and tenders on an international level, most notably collaborating in the contests corresponding to the construction of the new maritime terminal of Kin-Men (Taiwan), the remodeling of Camp Nou (Barcelona) and the construction of a composite viaduct, 500m meters in length and 60 meters wide, in Lit (Sweden).
Josep Ramón combines professional practice with study and research, culminating in his achievement of the title of Doctor of structures, his doctorate relating to the proposition of a methodology of non-linear analysis for the design and calculation of post-stressed solid concrete slabs.
Currently Josep Ramon is also professor of mathematics (in the Department of Architecture) at the International University of Catalonia (UIC). He has held the position of professor responsible for the area of structures at the European University of Valencia and also taught at the ELISAVA School of Technical Architecture (UPF) and at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, both in undergraduate and in postgraduate courses for architecture and specializations in structures.
Josep Ramon has also lectured in different fields, and has collaborated with CEVISAMA (Valencia) fair, the Catalan and Valencian Community Schools of Architects, the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Newcastle University, the International University of Catalonia and at the congress of ASOCRETO in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia).
